First Saturday Pet Adoption Days, Jefferson Feed & Garden Center, 4421 Jefferson Highway, 10:00am – 2:00pm. Jefferson Parish Animal Shelter dogs & cats and kittens from the Friends of the Jefferson Animal Shelter, Kitten Fostering Program, will be available for adoption. Dog Day Afternoon—The 24th Annual LA/SPCA Dog Day Afternoon, held at Audubon Park, features a Fun Walk around the park, a shelter alumni promenade, a celebrity-pet-look-alike, wet t-shirt (doggie style) and Frisbee catch contest. A Food Court, showcasing local festival-foods, carnival games (poop toss, playing catch and many more), reading with Clifford the Big Red Dog, live music from The Distractions and much, much more round out the day. “Bark in the Park” at Zephyr Field. Treat your dog and the entire family to a day at the ballpark. Guests are encouraged to bring their four-legged friends and watch the game from the levee or they can enjoy the game in a “humans-only” reserved seat in the stadium. Enjoy pre-game “Fan-Pet Look Alike” & “Baseball Buddies” contests and between-inning activities such as poop toss. One lucky person/pet will be selected to throw out the first pitch of the game. Levee tickets are $5.00 per person (dogs welcome), reserved stadium seats are $7.50, $8.50 or $9.50 per person (sorry, no pets).
